Exclusive: Nokia 8 launching in India on September 26th, to be priced around Rs 40,000

Last month, HMD Global finally unveiled its first flagship Nokia smartphone called the Nokia 8 at an event in London. The phone is now up for sale in select markets including the UK. Now it appears that the company is all set to launch the new Nokia flagship in the Indian market. 91mobiles has received exclusive information from HMD Global’s distribution partners in India that the Nokia 8 will land in the country on September 26th. The company is expected to send out media invites for the press event in the coming days that will take place in New Delhi.

As per our sources, HMD Global is planning to start selling the Nokia 8 (first impressions) in India before Diwali. The phone will be available in the country in either the first or the second week of October. Our sources tell us that apart from e-commerce portals, the Nokia flagship will also be available via major brick-and-mortar stores across the country. The flagship will be priced between Rs 40,000 and Rs 45,000 in India.

For the uninitiated, the Nokia 8 flaunts a Series 6000 aluminium unibody design with IP54 certification for splash resistance. The phone boasts a pair of 13-megapixel cameras at the back with Carl Zeiss optics, 4K support and optical image stabilisation for the main sensor. For selfies, the device has been fitted with a 13-megapixel sensor with support for 4K recording. The device also gets a ‘Dual-Sight streaming’ feature to let you capture footage from both the front and rear cameras for live streaming on the social networks.

As for the other specs, the Nokia 8 comes with a 5.3-inch QHD LCD display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. It is powered by a 2.35GHz Snapdragon 835 processor, mated to 4GB of RAM. It offers 64GB of expandable storage, Android Nougat with Android Oreo update on its way, 4G LTE, VoLTE, NFC, and a 3,090mAh fast charging battery.
