Latest WhatsApp beta build finally adds calling functionality

Attention WhatsApp beta testers! A new build is reportedly rolling out to the testing channel that brings with it calling functionality. Once updated, you should be on version 2.12.38 with the highly anticipated functionality ready to use. Unfortunately for those not on the beta, you'll have to hold out until the build is made live on the public listing.

We previously covered the popular messenger app and its calling feature, relaying WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum's confirmation that the functionality would arrive in the future. While you wait for WhatsApp calling to arrive, there's always Skype and other alternatives.

The WhatsApp beta is currently closed due to lack of free placements. We'll give you all a heads up when the features added to this channel reach the live, publicly available WhatsApp listing.
